Day Four - Chalet in Klosters

We woke up and started packing for a weekend up in the mountains. Malorie and her family recently purchased a vacation home in Klosters, a Swiss village renowned as a ski resort. It's a little over an hour drive from their house.

On the way we drove by their new house which is clearly under construction. We couldn't go inside because their were workmen on the job, but maybe next week we'll be able to.

The drive was very scenic and we took turns picking songs to listen to on Spotify. The weather was fabulous and it wasn't long before we arrived.

My sister's Swiss Chalet with mountains and the village of Klosters in the background.

I love the house! It's covered in lots of little paintings and neat architectural features.

I especially love this little window nook - Ceci ran inside to wave at us through the window.

The back side of the house has cows painted on the outside.

Close up of a carving on the front door of the house.

Zodiac paintings on the ceiling in the front hallway:

Ceci wanted to start crafting with Mary right away - this is the living room.

The room where Mary will be staying. All of the bedrooms have either a sink inside or an attached bathroom.

Built in bunk beds for Ceci and Verena!

My room! Has an incredible view and doors to the outside.

There's a little wine cellar in the basement and it has all of these funny drunken paintings all over the walls.

But the BEST part is the view - this was taken from the balcony off the living room.

Lunch in the window nook! Painted above their heads is the name of the house - Chalet Aurora - and the year it was built - 1958. The giant cowbell overhead has been repurposed into a lamp!

Malorie and Mary and the little girls all put on swimsuits and headed into Klosters to go to the badi (outdoor swimming pool). I stayed back at the chalet as I had some paperwork to catch up on.

After they got back, I went on a very short little hike up the mountain. There is a trail super close to their driveway. Clouds were rolling in and it looked like rain so I didn't go far.

Malorie and I drove into town to go to the grocery store and get some ingredients for tonight's dinner - homemade pizzas! Mary stayed back with the girls and they made things with clay, played with Lego, and definitely other stuff too. The girls adore Mary - especially Ceci.

Verena could not stay awake until dinner.

I haven't had artichokes on pizza before but I'm definitely going to do that more often!

Same view from balcony after the storm rolled in - glad it was so beautiful and clear when we got here this morning!

Love these lamps in the living room!

We had a nice relaxing evening. Tomorrow morning is supposed to be sunny again so we are getting up early to take a cable car up into the mountains!
